The movie, “Respect,” is scheduled to be out next year. MGM is accepting online audition submissions for the role of Aretha Franklin in her early years for the film. The Detroit Free Press, says the project is looking for a Black American actress/singer between age 10 to 14. Candidates must sing gospel “with a soaring soprano voice and the ability to play the piano is a plus.” Before she died last August, Aretha personally picked Jennifer Hudson to play her.
