R. Kelly was in court yesterday where a video was handed over by prosecutors that allegedly shows R. Kelly raping a 14-year old girl. R. Kelly is facing 18 charges for sexually abusing four women, three of whom were underage at the time. He appeared in court with his attorney. Judge Lawrence Flood ordered that the tape not be publicly released. R. Kelly’s lawyer, Steve Greenberg, plans to file motions in regard to the charges’ statute of limitations. A lot of the abuse R. Kelly is accused of happened in the 1990s. In 2017, Illinois passed a bill that eliminated the statutes of limitations for all felony criminal sexual assault and sexual abuse crimes against children.
