The family of slain St. Louis man, Kevin Johnson, returned to the scene of the crime one year later with positivity in their hearts. In a vacant lot where Johnson was one of three killed in a drive-by shooting while looking for investment properties in the community. His mother and widow purchased the land in order to help fulfill Johnson’s vision to revitalize the neighborhood he loved so much.
The lot will be transformed into a community garden. “Because I want to clean up this neighborhood,” said Natalie Johnson, Kevin’s mother, to Fox 2. “It’s time for us to take a stance here.”
Natalie and Denise Johnson invited neighbors and representatives from job placement agencies to help begin the process of cleaning up the vacant lot Saturday.
