The Jungle Book dominated the box office this weekend, raking in $104 million domestically and $240 million worldwide during its debut weekend.

The Disney flick is the second highest April opening in box office history, second only to last year’s Furious 7, which opened with $147.2 million. Congrats!

After months of promoting and flooding social media, Barbershop: The Next Cut debuted in second place, raking in $20.2 million, which according to reports is almost exactly what the original opened with back in 2002.

The Kevin Costner thriller Criminal came in third with $10.2 million.

Johnny Depp and wife Amber Heard are pulling out all the stops to keep Heard from doing jail time after she pleaded guilty to illegally taking her dogs into Australia.

The couple recorded a bizarre 42-second video expressing the importance of declaring all animals upon entering the country and urging others to respect Australia’s biosecurity laws.

In exchange for her guilty plea, two illegal-importation charges – which carry a maximum sentence of one year in jail – were dropped. Check out the apology video above.

As Netflix prices are set to rise, Amazon is adjusting their membership fees for Prime Video.

According to reports, Amazon will begin offering two new monthly memberships. Now customers can subscribe to Amazon Prime for $10.99 a month, or just Prime Video for $8.99 a month.

According to THR:

The monthly Amazon Prime subscription comes with all the perks that annual Prime members also receive, including free shipping, access to music via Prime Music and TV and movies via Prime Video. The Prime Video option, however, offers Amazon’s library of original and licensed video without the free shipping or music streaming perks.

Nothing like a little friendly competition.

The 69th Cannes Film Festival lineup was announced Monday morning and Hollywood’s hottest directors all made the cut.

Steven Spielberg, Woody Allen, and Jodie Foster will all debut their films during the competition. Ryan Gosling will also return to Cannes after his directorial effort Lost River premiered there last year. This time, he’s in front of the camera, starring opposite Russell Crowe in Shane Black’s The Nice Guys.

The festival starts May 11th. Check out the full lineup here.

J.K. Simmons definitely did his homework for his role as Commissioner James Gordon in the new Justice League movie.

The actor took the old-fashioned route while prepping for his role in the DC Extended Universe; he read the original comic books, telling Collider:

“Well, to read the comics, yes, absolutely. I’m still a couple of months out from doing that and I have two other films before then, so I haven’t gotten started on that. Obviously, a lot of really wonderful actors have played that character previously, and most of them I saw at the time the movies came out, never imagining that I would be doing the same thing. So, I can’t say that I don’t have some impression of that character in my head that’s based on what I saw, but I’m not planning on going back and watching any of the other films.”

Simmons compared his role research to his time doing theater, saying, “If I was doing a musical, I would never listen to the cast album because I wanted to do my version of something.”

Justice League, Part One is scheduled to debut in theaters November 17, 2017.
