As previously reported by Hello Beautiful, Tyshawn was allegedly targeted by gang members back in November as revenge against his father Pierre Stokes for the shooting death of 25-year-old Tracey Morgan.

USA Today has more:

Dwight Boone-Doty, who was already in the Cook County Jail on unrelated gun charges, has also been charged with another murder. Police say he was the trigger man in the Tyshawn Lee murder.

Police did not immediately offer details about the other murder for which Boone-Doty has been charged. But Anthony Guglielmi, a Chicago Police Department spokesman, said that an investigation involving the Cook County State’s Attorney office, FBI and the intelligence section of Cook County Sheriff’s Department overseeing the jail led to information that Boone-Doty “targeted, lured and executed” Tyshawn.

As previously reported by Hello Beautiful, Corey Morgan, a person of interest in the case, was arrested in connection with the case on $1 million bond.

Tyshawn’s father, Pierre Stokes, disagrees with police claims that his alleged gang ties caused his son’s tragic death. He also argued that police were more concerned about him than the person(s) who killed Tyshawn.

“No, I don’t think it was no retaliation because I never did nothing to — for nobody to hurt my son,” he said to the Chicago Tribune.

“They’re more worried about me. Why are you worried about me, not the killer?” Stokes said outside his residence in the Auburn-Gresham community. “I’m not the killer. Worry about the killer.”

The police department has called a 12:30 p.m. news conference Tuesday to discuss further details on the case.
