It’s been SEVEN years since we got a new project from singer Maxwell. He has truly turned into the male version of Sade (the African singer who is known for taking very long breaks and returning to the scene with well received music). In 2009 he promised his fans a trilogy after the release of BLACKsummers’n

ight album but he quickly switched gears and disappeared.

Most recently caught up with Maxwell who almost couldn’t contain himself talking about his impending release this year saying

“I’m so hyped about the new album coming out,” he said. “It’s fresh and it’s different, but it is what I do. It doesn’t make you feel like, oh, yeah, that’s going to come out in 1996. You’re not going to feel that. At least I hope you don’t.”

Maxwell contributes the new sound to the loss of his grandmother and his cousin and the fact that he’s not over 40. He says he’s looking ahead to the next ten years where in the past he didn’t…he just lived in the moment.

No release date for the new project was shared but he did hint to a possible of a title for the first single “Lake By The Ocean”. When it happens I’ll let you know when I know, but until then enjoy my fave from the last album
