That’s according to a group of wearers that is suing the company.

The San Francisco based Fitbit company is facing a lawsuit from a group who claims that the device puts out “wildly inaccurate” heart rate readings and could put users at risk.

Fitbit tracks the heart rate, calories burned, steps, and sleep of the person wearing the device.

The lawsuit claims that the devices “do not and cannot consistently and accurately record wearers’ heart rates during the intense physical activity for which Fitbit expressly markets them”.

The Fitbit company doesn’t believe the group of users have a case but they did release a statement saying that the device should not be used as scientific or medical devices.

WHAT??

The company released a statement that stated in part that they plan to “vigorously defend the lawsuit”. You can read the full lawsuit HERE
