The girlfriends are back. Essence Atkins stars in Girlfriends Getaway 2 the sequel to the popular TV One movie about college roommates played by Garcelle Beauvais, Malinda Williams, Terri J. Vaughn and Atkins, who vacation together.
“We travel to Trinidad where we actually filmed the first one,” Atkins says. “In the first one, we’re really catching up with each other and we’re there to have fun, but of course we get ourselves into a little pickle. This time we’re in Puerto Rico and Garcelle’s character is planning a destination wedding. “
Sounds like fun, although Atkins says she was nervous when she had to film the dutty wine sequence in the first one. Fortunately, the crew stepped in to help Atkins get it together.
“After you have a baby, finding your dutty wine is like sea legs. You have to find your sea legs again,” Atkins laughs.
Girlfriends Getaway 2 airs on TV One Saturday night at 8 p.m.
