NBA legend Magic Johnson will soon be making his way to court. Only it won’t be the kind of court he became a legend on. Magic Johnson is being sued by an ex-employee for wrongful termination. They say the main reason they were fired is because Johnson is way too particular about his snacks.
Lanita Thomas was Magic Johnson’s personal flight attendant on his private jet from 2004 up until she was fired a month ago. According to the lawsuit Thomas, 45, filed, she was fired because she was fifteen minutes late to work on one occasion. Lanita Thomas doesn’t believe that’s the actual reason she was terminated. Thomas claims Johnson fired her because he wanted “a substantially younger woman to service him” in the air.

While Thomas does admit she was late on the day Magic Johnson cites as the reason for her termination, she says it was because she was at the grocery store picking up the two types of turkey meat Johnson requires all of his sandwiches be made with. Lanita Thomas says the deli was moving at a severely slow pace that day. Thomas also alleged the former L.A. Laker insisted all of his snacks were super fresh. He even required Thomas to squeeze his packages of Red Vines licorice to ensure they were to his liking.
As if that weren’t enough, Thomas claims magic didn’t pay her for overtime and failed to give her the legally mandated breaks she was supposed to receive during her shifts. Lanita Thomas is suing for unspecified damages. Magic Johnson and his camp have yet to comment on the matter.
