December 13th, 2016 we learned of the passing of veteran actor/ TV host Alan Thicke. To some of the “youngin’s” out here Thicke is best known for being the father of singer Robin Thicke. However, to 80’s babies, Thicke is best known for his role as Dr. Jason Seaver in the show “Growing Pains.” Dr. Seaver was the White Dr. Huxtable. Thicke played the cool psychiatrist who always gave the best advice to wife Maggie his four children Mike, Carol, Ben, Chrissy and later adopted so Luke Brower. Growing Pains ran from 1985 to 1992 on the ABC Network peaked as high as 5th in the Neilsen Ratings.

What some 80’s babies might not have known is Alan not only was a great TV Dad, he had a hand in some of the greatest TV Theme songs of all-time. When you sing the theme song to the classic TV Show “Diff’rent Strokes” you hear Thicke. Alan along with his then wife and former soap opera star Gloria Loring was a a featured writer and singer on the classic TV theme song.

How about “The Facts Of Life?” Thicke was a featured writer on that classic TV theme song as well.

Thicke also wrote and composed some legendary Game Show themes including the 1975 version of the classic game show Wheel Of Fortune.

This must be where his son Robin got his musical chops from. Alan Thicke has been apart of our TV lives since the Mid-70’s in a major way. Put some “respeck” on his name. Rest in Peace.
